Many people who are looking to start their own website, or network of sites, worry about the costs. The costs of the domains, the cost of development and of course the cost of hosting. But whilst cheap dedicated hosting is useful it should be remembered it is not just price that matters – far from it!
Website hosting is important to any online business strategy. You need to know that you can trust your host – that they will have the websites up at all times and that your emails will get through, and any emails sent to you will be received. It doesn’t matter if a service is cheap, or even free, if they can’t fulfil those vital steps they are actually a waste of money.

Of course that is not to say that you can’t get cheap dedicated hosting that provides everything you need. Far from it, there are some excellent deals out there and amazingly low prices. What it means is you have to make sure the company you are dealing with is one that you can trust.
Because hosting is a service industry – and you need to make sure that the host gives you the service that you need. And that includes ‘up time’. Because your host is what keeps your website available to any internet users if it were to suffer problems your site would be unavailable – and therefore not able to make money.
Cheap dedicated hosting does exist but you have to make sure it
- Can ensure your site is up 99% of the time (problems do happen, 100% is unrealistic).
- Ensures that you can get and receive your email
- Gives you access to technical support and any other people you need (billing for example)
- Is interested in giving you a service rather than just getting the money
Cheap dedicated hosting is brilliant – as long as you are not just focussed on price
